About the Department

It is one of the departments of the College of Medical Technology that was recently established, and one of the branches of modern medicine that relies on understanding and analyzing body movement, as well as dealing with associated diseases, using the power of the hands in examination, diagnosis, and treatment through the application of natural therapeutic methods.

The Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Medical Technology was established in the year "2012/2013" to serve as an educational and research beacon that contributes to graduating generations with qualified competencies and health professionals capable of working in both public and private sectors to perform various tasks.

The field of physical therapy aims to improve and develop various aspects of life through prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, where physical therapy is considered a method of interaction between physical therapy technicians and patients. Physical therapy employs many therapeutic techniques that include manual therapy and massage, hydrotherapy, thermotherapy, electrical therapy, physical therapy for the elderly, children, sports injuries, and other physical treatments.

This specialty is known by more than one name; it is referred to as "physical therapy" or "natural therapy." In English, it is known by two terms: the first is "Physical Therapy," while the other term is "Physiotherapy."

The main objective of this specialization is to enable students to use methods that include diagnosing diseases, preventing them, and treating diseases, problems, and movement disorders using therapeutic exercises and various physical modalities. It also includes the rehabilitation of individuals with special needs and all types of movement disorders. The student graduates from this program with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy and rehabilitation sciences after completing four years of study followed by practical training (six months of internship).

Providing an accredited and advanced academic program in the field of physical therapy and activating cooperation with relevant health sectors by supplying the labor market with qualified personnel through the preparation of a foundational and knowledge-based structure and equipping them with the necessary skills, while also directing them towards scientific research in order to serve the community and focus on meeting needs in various medical and educational fields.

Welcome to the Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Medical Technology at Nalut University. I am honored to welcome you to this educational institution that aims to achieve leadership in this field by qualifying national competencies to develop healthcare and support applied research, raising community awareness of practices and behaviors related to physical therapy. It also focuses on providing students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills, emphasizing the preparation of qualified health personnel to deal with various health challenges and highlighting the importance of scientific research and community participation to improve medical services. I wish all our students the best of luck and success in their educational journey.

curriculum

The first year is general, and the remaining three years are specialized. After successfully completing all the courses of the fourth year, the student spends six months dedicated solely to the graduation project and field training (internship). A maximum of two additional academic years may be added to the duration for the student to graduate. The College of Medical Technology grants its graduates a degree in Medical Technology (Bachelor's), and the college council may propose the establishment of higher academic degrees, such as a higher degree (Master's) or a precise degree (Doctorate) in various specializations after approval by the university council when resources are available. The study stages in the department combine theoretical and practical study, where the student studies a set of general and specialized subjects, in addition to practical study where students conduct a series of experiments in the department's laboratories.
